T Cells and Longevity: A Closer Look at the Immune Signature of Healthy Aging

What does healthy aging look like? Emerging science suggests that T cells, other immune-cell populations, and blood-protein signatures may offer a snapshot. New research into age-related changes in T cells and the possibility that particular immune-cell populations, along with blood-protein signatures, could help identify patterns associated with longevity, is bringing scientists closer to understanding what distinguishes healthy aging from disease-associated aging on a cellular level. These findings may also help explain why some people remain healthier longer while others are more prone to age-related conditions.
